Mini Scrapbook with Pocket Pages

Monday June 16, 2008
Open BookSeveral months ago, I added a gallery to About.com Scrapbooking that featured a Greeting Card Organizer and a Recipe Book. That gallery has instructions in it for making this fun little gift, but not step by step photos to help you along the way. I have gotten so many emails asking more about these books, that I decided that everyone needed clear instructions so that you can see how easy and how much fun it is to make these yourself. So this week, I have added a Step-by-Step article that shows each step in a photo. This mini scrapbook has pages that are 6 inches wide and 8 inches tall. Each one has a large pocket that can hold recipe cards, memorabilia, matted photos, or greeting cards. You can use it as an organizer or a creative scrapbook. I especially like these books to document family trips because you can add photos to the pages and insert ticket stubs, receipts, or other travel memorabilia in the pockets as you go. Visit the Card Organizer and Recipe Book gallery to get ideas for decorating them. They make fabulous wedding and bridal shower gifts too!

Has anyone done a recipe scrapbook. Not the pocket pages shown here, but an actual scrapbook w/ recipes. I’m a new “scrapper”. I want to do a book with family recipes, pictures and the tradition/story. Any ideas for layouts, what to include (I’m afraid of writing too much or not enough), what families to represent……… Would love any ideas/help.

I did a recipe book last year for my SIL based on her mother’s recipe box. I included recipe cards and some pictures. It was lots of fun and received well. I included family photos of eating. Thanksgiving, Easter and Xmas among others.
