How to Get Started Stamping In Your Scrapbook

These very basic steps will help you get started using rubber stamps to create a great new look in your scrapbooks.

Difficulty Level: Average      Time Required: Varies

Here's How:
  1. Select the rubber stamp you wish to use and an acid-free, permanent ink pad.
  2. Test stamp the image several times on scrap paper, focusing on the amount of inking required and the pressure needed to be exerted on the stamp for an even image.
  3. Choose a color of photo mounting paper on which to stamp.
  4. Ink your stamp by tapping it several times on the pad while shifting or rotating the stamp to get complete coverage.
  5. Press the inked stamp firmly onto the paper, making sure to keep it flat, apply pressure to the entire stamp, and avoid rocking.
  6. Lift the stamp straight up off of the paper to keep your image crisp.
  7. Allow the stamped image to dry to avoid smearing.
  8. Cut the image out of the mounting paper.
  9. Affix the image to the scrapbook page with the mounting tape of your choice.
  10. You could finish the look by coloring the stamped image with markers or pencils.
Tips:
  1. Feel free to stamp directly onto your pages, in addition to cutting stamped images out of mounting paper, when you feel confident doing so.
  2. Try out new stamping techniques to add to this great look, such as embossing or shading.
  3. Purchase stamps that you can legitimately envision using several times in your albums, such as flowers, hearts, gift packages, etc.
