Reynolds, One of Americas Most Trusted Brand Names, Launches Arts and Crafts Product Line
RICHMOND, Va. Reynolds, which brought America Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil, officially enters the arts and crafts industry this weekend at the January 2001 Hobby Industries Association (HIA) trade show in Anaheim, Calif., with the introduction of the Reynolds® Creative Essentials arts and crafts line. The first entry in this new product line will be the Reynolds® Bright Ideas crafting products, a broad and growing array of over 60 products specifically designed for children, featuring colored and laminated foil products, holographic films, paperboard items, crafting tools and craft kits and books. Reynolds Bright Ideas products will begin appearing in stores by late spring 2001, and will be followed by additional product lines under the Reynolds Creative Essentials brand umbrella. "We are very excited about being a part of the arts and crafts industry," said Ruth Mack, president of Alcoa Consumer Products, of which Reynolds Consumer Products is a part. "For over 50 years, Reynolds and Americas families have been partners in fun-filled family events, around the dinner table and around the home. It seems only natural that we extend our tradition of providing creative family solutions to busy parents into the area of arts and crafts."
"Since 1947, when Reynolds introduced Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil, Americas families have told us that they often use many of our food management products for crafting and home projects," said Mack. "Our new arts and crafts products are specifically designed and produced -- with sturdier, crafting-strength foil, for example -- to be better suited for these projects. And each product in our new arts and crafts line meets the high standards for quality that consumers expect from the Reynolds brand name."
"Reynolds knows how important it is that children have the opportunity for creativity and self-expression," said Lynda Musante, arts and crafts marketing and development manager at Reynolds Consumer Products. "So we have developed a product line that is both easy to use and gives children a real feeling of success and accomplishment after a project is completed. Our goal with Reynolds® Bright Ideas products is to create products and projects that are fun and educational for children, while also providing parents with the reassurance of Reynolds quality in every item."
Reynolds entry into the $11 billion crafting industry leverages several of Reynolds and parent company Alcoas core competencies: a strong history of marketing to Americas families; experience in developing consumer products that are both fun and functional; world-class manufacturing capabilities and expertise in foil, plastic and paper products; and, the ability to cost-effectively execute national distribution.
"We are interested in the arts and crafts industry as a long-term market opportunity that also holds the potential for immediate and incremental growth," continued Mack. "To accomplish our long-term goals, we plan to employ the same good corporate stewardship and focus on quality with our arts and crafts line that weve practiced with our consumer products line."
In the 53 years since Reynolds introduced Reynolds Wrap® Aluminum Foil, the company has built a successful and wide-ranging consumer product line including foil, plastic and paper products, and new items such as reusable/disposable cookware -- designed to provide fun, easy and delicious meal solutions to American families. Reynolds Wrap Aluminum Foil is consistently ranked by consumers in the top one percentile of brand names for quality. Through the new Reynolds® Bright Ideas® craft line Reynolds® Bright Ideas products, Reynolds is extending this design, production, marketing and quality legacy into the arts and crafts industry.
Reynolds Consumer Products, part of the Alcoa Consumer Products business, manufactures and markets a broad and growing arts and crafts product line under the Reynolds® Creative Essentials brand name, including Reynolds® Bright Ideas crafting products.
