Favorite Products: Watermark Ink Pads

This semi-monthly series of articles will feature a new product that I have discovered I really enjoy. These may be products that are new on the market, or simply are new to me and, I thought, may be to you also. This week's product is the Versamark watermark ink pad. I fell in love with it at a demonstration at the Stampeddler Plus in Northville, Michigan, USA. Using this stamp pad with the stamp of your choice allows you to turn any solid colored scrapbook paper into custom printed paper in minutes.

Despite the obvious distortion caused by trying to keep the file size of the scanned image manageable for your viewing, you can see that the paper on the right-hand side of each color is plain. The paper on the left-hand side has been stamped with either stars (on pink) or roses and leaves (on blue). One thing to note is that the image appears darker on darker colored papers. If stamped on white paper it will be faintly visible, much like a watermark on fancy stationary. This technique requires very little skill. There are three things that you will want to keep in mind: 1) Rotate your stamp image randomly as you place it on the paper, 2) Occasionally, you will want to stamp just over the edge of the paper (to create the illusion of printed paper), and 3) Re-ink your stamp before each image to maintain a consistent look overall.

Purchasing Information:

This product is so new to the stamping scene that I am having trouble finding online retailers that carry it. I have contacted some, and if I find a great place to buy it online, I will be adding it here this week.  Otherwise, be sure to check with your local stamping or scrapbooking store. The exact name of the product is VersaMark Watermark Stamp Pad, manufactured by Tsukineko.
