"Grandma's Scrapbook"

"Grandma's Scrapbook"

Guide Rating -

I recently received a copy of an absolutely delightful picture book called Grandma's Scrapbook. It is published by Gingerbread House; written by Josephine Nobisso; and illustrated by Maureen Hyde. The pictures are beautiful and the story is so poignant that you must be sure to have a tissue handy while you read it.

The story begins:

Grandma's hair was once black as crows. I was too young to remember, but I know it was so because Grandma kept a scrapbook. . .

It then continues on to chronicle the summers spent by a young girl with her grandmother at the seaside. Each page presents more wonderful details that Grandma kept in her scrapbook as the girl grows up and Grandma grows older. As the story closes, Grandma is no longer with the young woman, however the memories they shared have been treasured and still remain. This book will be treasured by every scrapbooker who reads it. I highly recommend it to scrapbook consultants to use as an additional tool to emphasize the importance of scrapbooking to your classes.
