Book Review: Quick and Easy Pages
by Joanna Campbell Slan
Quick and Easy Pages is called "a quick start guide for anyone who wants to scrapbook." It is delightfully written for two types of readers. The first is the scrapbooker just starting out, who is looking for a clear and concise description of key scrapbook techniques. The second is the experienced scrapbooker who needs encouragement that not only is it okay to focus on some quick and easy scrapbook pages, but also that it may be the best choice for those who have "limited time, a huge pile of photos, and a family life providing both interruptions and stories to save." Both of these types of scrapbookers can turn to this book and find creative "inspiration and direction."
The book is designed around 36 specific techniques. Each is detailed with step by step color photos and a full color sample layout showing how the technique was used. These 36 core lessons each include tips, additional techniques, and journaling "Story Starters." For example, in the section that focuses on "Using a Vellum Page Title," readers will also find a tip on selecting pre-printed vellum, another tip about gluing small pieces to pages, an overview of "Page Title Lettering Options," and a Story Starter to inspire holiday journaling. The book is designed for the reader to be able to dive in and select a specific topic picking up wonderful tips and journaling hints along the way. One can read it cover to cover or topic by topic.
A selection of some of the other topics included in the book are: Using Pre-Printed Page Titles, Die Cuts, Creating a Photo Frame, Using Letter Stickers, Matting with Design Lines, Using Laminate Film, Using a Letter Template, Practicing Paper Piecing. Working With Vellum, Creating a Tableau, Creating a Headline on Your Computer, and so much more!
