Hobby
Industry Association - Dallas |
The new companies and new product offerings in the scrapbook industry just keep coming! This year the scrapbook manufacturers at the Hobby Industry Association trade show took up so many booths on the show floor it was close to overwhelming. I spent one whole day visiting booths in the New Exhibitors section - checking out the up and coming designers/manufacturers. In the days I had left it simply wasn't even possible to see everything and visit with every manufacturer. However, after much deliberation I have assembled a list of some of my favorites. Be watching for these new products on the shelves of your favorite local scrapbook store soon!
The Companies - The Products
Daisy
D's:
-
Defining Moments - Expanded line of 12x12 patterned definition printed papers,
including Baby, Sister, Daughter, Brother, Son, etc. This line has a beautiful
richly aged hue.
- Also 12x12 definition transparency overlays, and 5 1/4 x 6
3/4 definition transparency frames.
- Memory Palettes - Paint strips with the color names perfect
for scrapbooking (Wedding, Love, Cherish, Treasure - for example)
Display Dynamics:
-
12x12 two drawer file cabinet - This file cabinet on casters is perfect for
organizing 12x12 paper. It also has a small table that pulls out from the top of
the cabinet.
- Scrap Table - Pen and supplies holders are built right into
the top of the beautiful table.
Leeco
Industries:
-
An entire line of organization boxes. Purchase these boxes individually to build
a custom scrapbook area no matter what size space you have available. You can
view this new line on their
web site.
I loved that the boxes all are interchangeable so that you can add shelves, or
drawers, or double drawers, etc.
- Leeco also introduced a line of plastic organizers that fit
perfectly into their custom cabinet boxes.
All
My Memories:
-
Words were all the rage at HIA. Anything you could print words on was on
display. All My Memories had some creative additions including - Wisdom Vellum
Words Stickers, Sticker Letters on Leather, Stone, and Steel.
Wordsworth:
-
I have loved Wordsworth alphabet stamps when I saw them last year, and now the
line continues to expand. New for HIA were sticker lines called Itty Bitty
Everyday and My World. Both are black in on clear vellum and feature words and
phrases.
Pixie
Press:
-
Heavyweight, cardstock stickers were also something seen from a lot of
manufacturers at HIA. Pixie Press had several very pretty lines of heavyweight
stickers, making designing a scrapbook page a snap.
- They also introduced a new 6"x6" version of their popular
scrapbook calendar with coordinating stickers.
Fiber
Scraps:
-
Fiber Scraps carries the lines of fibers to match Bazzill Monochromatic
Cardstock and Chatterboxes paper lines.
- One of my favorite products at HIA was the Walnut Ink
dauber from Fiber Scraps. No more messy mixing and trying to save the extra for
later. Now you can use walnut ink in a bingo style dauber bottle. Loved it!
Pebbles, Inc.:
-
Pebbles won my personal award for creativity when it comes to finding things on
which to print words. They had words on Masking Tape, Duct Tape, and even Twist
Ties. Check out their new product lines on their web site. The I Kan Dee line is
very fun!
Creative Imaginations:
- This company had a huge product line
before HIA and now it is so large that the catalog weighed several pounds. Some
of my favorite new products were from a line called Narratives:
-
Printed Slide Mounts
-
Negative Strips - actual negative strips with clear centers, some printed with small words, make very unique photo or embellishment frames.
-
Transparency overlays for 12x12, and also some very cool ones for tags.
