HIA 2004 - What's New and What's Hot - Continued

Hobby Industry Association - Dallas - Part II
Rebecca's Picks For Scrapbookers in 2004

More new product offerings for the scrapbook industry from these great companies:

The Companies - The Products

Bazzill:

 - 52 new colors of cardstock were introduced at HIA from Bazzill.
    - I also loved their new Mono Mini's - miniature album kits.
    - Also, you won't want to miss the new BazzillColor idea book.

Karen Foster Design:

 - Very elegant clear quote stickers and a really fun line of Metals (hinges, corners, words).
    - If you remember, I said that HIA was all about words this year. A lot of companies had 12x12 paper with quotes, words, definitions, but I really liked Karen Foster's new Teen Girl paper that had a Question/Answer format printed on it. It reminded me of teen magazines and the colors were great.

Stampendous:

 - Alphabet stamps have become some of my new favorite scrapbooking supplies, so when I stopped by the Stampendous booth I was instantly in love with their Perfectly Cleartm Stamp sets. You can see all of their alphabet sets on their web site.

Artistic Wire:
    -
Multi-gauge Color Theme Wire Sets: Now you can get wire in packages of different gauges. I love the color choices in these sets as they now coordinate with a season of the year. The Spring set is absolutely gorgeous.
    - Pre-made Spirals and Wire Beads: Need help making perfectly flat wire spirals to decorate your scrapbook pages? Now Artistic Wire sells them already made for you in convenient, multi-color, packages.

The Paper Loft:

- Weathered Cardstock: I admit that I usually have a hard time with the "shabby-chic" look, but this new cardstock from The Paper Loft makes it easy to create a fabulous page in seconds. I made the page shown here - "Play in the Woods," in literally minutes. The background paper comes just as shown in the sample. All I had to do was mat some photos with slightly sanded down solid cardstock and add the sticker letters. Watch for the detailed "How-to" for this page coming soon!
    - License Plate and Alphabet Block Stickers: The License Plate stickers are cardstock thickness stickers, perfect for titles and other embellishments. (Also shown on the sample layout.)

DiBona Designs:
    -
This company which specializes in vintage look scrapbooking embellishments, introduced Debra Beagle's new line of rubber stamping alphabets. The unique part of these stamps is that the backing has a magnet sheet on it. You can simply adhere them to the strips on a set of wooden stamping blocks to form words and titles for your pages. Storage is simple, as all the letters fit on custom, thin, metal sheets that are three-hole punch for a 3-ring folder. The alphabet styles are very elegant and great for scrapbooking. Debra's web site contains more information about the stamps and also tips for including stamped letters into your journaling.

Wish In The Wind:

- I have been a fan of Wish in the Wind grid line mosaic paper for quite a while. This year at HIA, I discovered their line of Paper Tiles, which are cut to perfectly fit in the spaces of the grid paper. They include both small and larger size blocks for easy color blocking. You can see more on their web site.

Scrap Pagerz:

 - While they also added to their popular lines of alphabet and color-blocking templates, Scrap Pagerz added even more to the gorgeous, laser cut, acrylics line. I just love the look and feel of these light weight, crystal looking, page decorations. While many companies had acrylics at the show, I thought that the line at Scrap Pagerz was definitely worth a mention because of the intricacy of the detail in the designs and the amount of different styles in the line. Their web site is a little behind, so be sure to ask about these products at your local scrapbook store.

Creek Bank Creations:
    -
This company also introduced many new products at HIA, but my favorite because of how unique it is is their line called Metaleeze - Faux Metal Stickers. They are the look of metal without the bulk and weight. They have hinges, clock hands, book plates, and corners. I also love the Metaleeze Tags, which are really just metal looking rim stickers that you can peel off and stick to cardstock, vellum, or whatever you want to look like a metal edged tag. These come in circle, square, and rectangle. You can find the rest of their new products on the web site.

Foof a La:

- Foof a La specializes in the vintage. If shabby chic is your style then this is one product line you won't want to miss. Some of my personal favorites: Drawer Pulls, Knockers, Definition Sheets, Flexible Micro-scope Slides, and Mini-File Folders. You can see their extensive product line on their web site.

Everlasting Keepsake:

- I discovered this small company in the New Exhibitors section at HIA and immediately loved their unique product line. They are still building their web site, however soon their new lines will be shown online so you can see them for yourself. I really liked the QuoteStix - phrases and titles embossed into craft sticks. I also liked the TexTiles, which are small tiles each with a letter embossed into them. Scrap Tags are "dog-tag" looking tags with definitions on them. And, Shaker Piecings and paper piecing kits that include a shaker box - very fun!

Wacky Tac:
    -
I have finally found a tape that I truly love for vellum! Wacky Tac Restickable Vellum Tape works really, really nicely on vellum. I tried it at their booth and immediately wanted to include it in my HIA Highlights list. Check out their web site for more information. They also sell retail on their site.

Artistic Impressions:
    -
Many companies had clear overlays at HIA this year. Artistic Impressions is a step ahead of the rest of the pack with an extensive and gorgeous line of overlays in several sizes. These clear sheets come with printing already on them in a variety of styles. My personal favorite is the line of white lettering overlays. They also introduced a new line for making smaller albums called "Clearly Complete."
