Creating a Scene with Stickers!
Incorporating Stickers Into Your Layout for a 3-D Effect

By Guest Author: Sara Naumann, Hot Off The Press
Page Design By: Amy Gustafson

Okay, we admit it: We're Sticker Fanatics. And we're NOT seeking help! Instead, we're on the lookout for fresh, fun ways to scrap with stickers.

Scrapbook Specialist Amy Gustafson put her layout skills to work when we asked her to create a scene using Annie Lang's stickers in combination with patterned papers. (Annie's name might sound familiar to you; She's the artist who created Paper Pizzazz Heartwarming Papers.) Take a look at what Amy came up with!

A New Look for Stickers
Creating a scene is a fresh way to incorporate your favorite stickers onto your page. How is this different than simply arranging stickers at the bottom of a white background page? Notice how Amy arranged the stickers to interact with the torn paper background for a three-dimensional effect.

Torn Paper Scene
Amy tore strips of three different yellow patterned papers and alternated them in layers at the bottom of the blue gingham background paper for "sand." "Since Paper Pizazz is patterned on the front and white on the back, tearing the paper toward you will result in a white edge," advises Amy.

The little boy and little girls stickers are placed on one of the "dunes," while smaller beach toy stickers are scattered about in the sand. Paper Pizazz stickers are on a clear acetate background; there's no white border to interfere with your scene.

"These colors and patterns not only match the colors in the photo, they also reinforce the cheerful theme of the page," says Amy, adding, "And these adorable stickers are perfect for this theme!"

Picking Patterned Papers
We think these brightly colored papers are perfect for this page, enhancing the colors in the photograph as well as the colors in the stickers. Amy's color and paper combination makes the page bright, fresh, and fun.

Maybe you think this paper combination is a little too bright, fresh, and fun? Concerned that the patterns will overwhelm your photo? Follow the Golden Rule of Patterned Papers: Always mat your photos onto a solid before placing them onto a patterned paper. Notice how Amy matted the picture on white before placing it onto the pink dot paper - then matted it again before placing it onto the blue background. She used the same technique for the journaling plaque.

(And no you don't have to pick and choose, mix and match or hunt all over town for these pattered papers. We've coordinated them for you. All of these patterned papers can be found in Paper Pizazz Bright Tints.)
