Growing a Page

Layering vellum over a patterned or plain sheet of paper creates a beautiful and versatile look—and it’s a great way to “grow” a page. Take a sheet of 8.5”x11” vellum and center it on a 12”x12” page, offset it or place it to the side. You can cut it to make a pocket, page corners or even die-cut letters. Cut it into 2”-wide strips, mat the strips and arrange them evenly across the page.

Quick & Easy Pages

You didn’t know that you could make quick and easy pages from vellum papers, did you? After all, something so delicate and lovely should only be used by scrappers who take hours, even days, to complete one perfect, glorious page, right? Quite the opposite! Since vellum is so pretty, it really doesn’t need a lot of extra embellishing to make a beautiful page.

Take a look at this wonderful wedding page above, for example. Amy trimmed 3/4” from the left and right sides of a sheet of 12”x12” lace vellum, then centered the sheet on a piece of red roses background paper. A strip of ribbon is glued along the top and bottom of the vellum, with a small bow added to the top center. “Double-mat the photo, add journaling and you’re done!” says Amy, adding, “I love how the vellum matches the bride’s lacy dress, while the black and red paper combination picks up the Scottish theme. Just because a page is quick and easy doesn’t mean it can’t look great too!”
