Crossword Puzzle Layout: Eternal Love Wedding Page

A Fun Mosaic-Like Technique for Scrapbooking
by Rebecca Ludens

Some scrapbooking themes (such as Birthday, Beach, Wedding, Holiday) bring to mind lists of words. Usually, we use these words to come up with clever titles for our layouts. On the page below, the list has been turned into a crossword puzzle. This type of layout is perfect for showcasing a collection of smaller photos of one event, such as these wedding snapshots below.

1) Punch Letter Squares. Print words in individual letters on white cardstock - leaving plenty of space between each letter. Use a 1 inch square punch to punch out each letter. To easily see where each letter will fall on the square, turn the punch upside down so you can see the print before you punch.

2) Punch black squares. Punch out extra squares from black matching cardstock to fill in blank squares on the completed layout. See photo below.

3) Crop your photos to size. Trim photos, mats, and any other embellishments you wish to use so that they fill a block of squares on your page. Since each block has a 1/8" space around it, photos (or photo mats) need to use these dimensions to fill a block completely: 1", 2 1/8", 3 1/4", 4 3/8" etc.

4) Assemble the layout. The easiest way to assemble the finished layout is to use Mosaic Moments Paper by Wish in the Wind. It has pre-marked boxes, so that you can quickly line up each piece.

Supplies Used:

  • Metal Plaques - Making Memories
  • Black Mosaic Moments Paper - Wish in the Wind
  • Wedding Rub-On Phrases - Making Memories
  • 1" Square Punch - EK Success
