Paper Piecing

Kits, Circles and Ovals, and Paper Dolls

Paper piecing, which involves creating pictures using different colors of scrapbook paper to define the shapes, has become a very popular way to embellish scrapbook pages. The great thing about this technique is the endless combinations that can be created from colored paper and your imagination. There are several ways to go about it. In this article, I am going to focus on three of them: Paper Piecing Kits, Piecing with Circles and Ovals, and Paper Dolls.

Paper Piecing Kits

The sample on this page, Fun In The Sun, was created using a paper piecing kit from Pages In A Snip, a scrapbook kit retailer focusing on helping you put together quick, easy, and fun pages. The kits come ready to assemble with complete instructions everything you need to complete the pages, including an extra sheet of cardstock for photo mounting.  For a two page spread, Pages' kits cost $4.00. This is a really great way to get into paper piecing. It requires very little skill or time and gives you a wonderful page layout. If you have never tried paper piecing, you will want to consider purchasing a kit to try it out. Several more retailers that offer paper piecing kits are listed on this site.

Continue to the next page for great ideas for paper piecing that you can do yourself with circles and ovals.
