Paper Piecing: Paper Dolls

Another great paper piecing idea that has started a huge trend is the use of paper dolls on pages. The designs shown here were created by my seven year old daughter using the book Cut-Out Kids by Design Originals.  The book has patterns that you can trace to form a wide variety of different dolls, outfits, hair, and faces.  The best place that I found to purchase this book online is the Crafter's Toy Box which lists it on sale for $9.00. The price at my local scrapbook store is $10.89, and the price directly from Design Originals is $11.99. This book is well worth the money because you will use it again and again. My daughter and I had a great time putting together this school bus page. Although it took more time (probably about an hour) than I normally like to spend on one page, once in a while the outcome is worth the extra time. We used small patterned paper for the clothes and chalks to accent the faces. The bus pattern can be found in the book. You can click on the page of sample dolls below to see more details.
