Diamonds and Darkness

If you already have plenty of red, white, and blue pages in your scrapbooks from past Independence Day celebrations, here's a new layout for you.  The "July 4th Fireworks" page pictured here was created using Diamond Dust paper on a black cardstock background. The shimmer of the Diamond Dust contrasting the black creates a stunning page. If you have never worked with this great paper, now is your chance to be bold and try it out. Diamond Dust paper, which is embedded with glitter and shimmers in the light, is from Paper Adventures.  Free printable Clip & Save idea pages for using this paper can be found on their web site.

For this layout, I used my star template for my Coluzzle cutting system to cut the star photo frames.  Be sure to cut the inside, smaller, star out first and then cut on the next size up to create the frame, otherwise you may have trouble keeping the paper from slipping as you cut.

Next, I used a star punch from Marvy Uchida to punch coordinating colored small stars to "burst" from the frames. Affix these smaller stars to the paper around and below the larger star frames. I then used my Creative Memories Precious Elements silver gel pen to draw accent lines roughly from the larger stars out to each of the punched stars.

The title on the page is made with silver letter stickers from Creative Memories. I used the How To Place Sticker Letters tip to easily lay the letters onto the paper evenly spaced and straight.
