Spinner Page Step 6
The
last step is attaching the wheel. The book recommends using a brass
brad paper fastener for this step. Although that would work, I was somewhat
concerned about how a brass brad would age with time. Therefore, I used buttons
and thick green quilting thread that I had in my sewing box. First, I cut a
small hole in the middle of the wheel itself. Turning the page over I placed the
wheel into position and used a photo marking pencil to draw a dot through the
hole in the wheel. This dot showed me where to cut a hole through to the
front of the page layout. Once the small holes have been made, it is simple to
thread a button on the front through to another button on the back and tie it
off. I used a double thickness of the thread to give added strength to the
attachment and support for turning the wheel. The country look of the
small button really goes well with the sunflower page layout. Note: I placed my
wheel on the side of the page in order to be able to slide my page protector
over it and still be able to turn it. If you have top opening page protectors, I
recommend setting up your wheel so that it can be turned from the top.
By adding a title, some journaling, and any other decorations that you feel inspired to add, finishing off this page is a breeze.
