Darling Dimensional Details
Part I: Fishing Pole
by Sara Naumann for Hot Off the Press
Projects Reprinted From 102 Ideas for 3-D Embellishments
Dimensional details are darling! Three-dimensional embellishments add depth and fun to a scrapbook page. (Hint: They’re also great for cards!) They’re all the rage in scrapbooking circles, so we asked scrapbook designer Lisa Garcia-Bergstedt to share a few of her favorites from the book 102 Ideas for 3-D Embellishments.

These four embellishments were photographed at full-size so you can print out each item and trace it onto tracing paper. Slip transfer paper under it and use a pencil to go over the lines onto your project material.

1) Fishing Pole

This fun design is a great accent for summertime fishing layouts!

In Lisa’s Supply Box:

  • patterned Paper Pizazz ™: alligator from Wild Things (also available by the sheet)

  • 24-gauge gun metal wire: Artistic Wire

  • 5 1/2” long twig

  • foam adhesive tape

  • hemp or jute twine

  • needle-nose pliers

Use pliers to hold a 2” length of wire in the center and form a loop. Twist the wires together for 1/4” and curve the ends into “U” shapes as shown. Thread one end of a 5” piece of twine through the loop and knot. Tie the other end to the twig. Cut the fish shape from alligator paper and mount with foam tape.
