If you have ever made a scrapbook page using vellum then you know what a versatile product it is! You might even call it the "work horse of papers." The hardy quality of vellum paper makes it perfect to cut with decorative scissors, make punch art designs, emboss elegant designs, fold into tea bag stars, crimp for up-scale looks, tear for free form art, paint with markers and chalk. Not only are there a variety of colors and designs from which to choose, but the translucent quality of vellum paper lends itself to magical effects such as overlays to create the look of glass, water, clouds and more!

Record the days of your good old summer time with this fun vellum overlay. Use clear or embossed Vellum paper to create the look of lemonade. The layers of vellum ice cubes and slices of lemon add realistic depth and dimension to the designs. When it all comes together, like magic, "The Good Old Summer Time" has arrived!

Materials Used:

  • K & C Company Floral Pearl embossed vellum
  • Yellow and Pale Blue vellum
  • Turquoise fleck and Turquoise dot paper
  • Cardstock (White, Pale Yellow, Bright Yellow, Orange)
  • Album page
  • Corkscrew and Deckle scissors
  • 11⁄4" circle punch cut into eights
  • 13⁄8" and 15⁄8" circle templates or patterns for rind
  • White gel pen
  • Black marker
  • Blue chalk

Construction Tips:

Print patterns for glass, pitcher, and lemon. When you lay vellum over the patterns you will be able to clearly see the lines to transfer the pattern onto your chosen paper.

Cut eight 3⁄4" squares from Blue vellum for ice cubes.

Cut White 1⁄4" x 51⁄8" rectangle for straw.

Line rim of pitcher and glass with gel pen.

Cut slit in lemon slice and place on top of glass. Slit glass and insert straw.
