Everything's Coming Up Pumpkins
Part 1: The Vine, Stems, and Leaves

Even if you no longer believe in the Great Pumpkin, you will love this fabulous border idea. Imagine adding it to pages that include Halloween, Harvest, or Pumpkin Patch pictures. Creating it uses several techniques that will give you valuable scrapbooking skills for future projects as well.

The Vine

The vine that provides the base for the pumpkins was created using the new Creative Memories wave template. I choose to make the strip about 1/4" wide. You could accomplish the same effect by using a pair of decorative scissors to cut out a 1/4" wide strip of paper. It is cut from 12" long green mounting paper and then bent slightly in the center so that the strip  forms a gentle "v" shape for the pumpkins to be attached to.

The Stems and Leaves

The stems and leaves of this project are made from punches. The stems are created with two sizes of swirl punches: 1/2" for the small swirl, and 1 1/2" for the large.  The leaves are formed with a 1" maple leaf punch. A fun way to add detail to the leaves is before you punch them out, run the paper through a corrugator. The rippled paper will then give your leaves a great texture and add an extra element to the border.
