Technique Challenge: Scanning Textures

Creating Your Own Unique Scrapbook Layout Background Pages
by Rebecca Ludens

Both beginning and more advanced scrapbookers occasionally need to try a new technique to stay inspired. This technique challenge is something that anyone can try with just a few supplies. Create you own fun and unique background papers by scanning textured elements to print out as embellishments for your pages.

Scanning Textures

Supplies Needed:

  • Flat Bed Scanner

  • Items to scan

  • Color Printer

  • Bright White Cardstock

Simples Steps:

  1. Carefully place items on the scanner.

  2. Scan in color at a medium-high resolution for printing.

  3. Print out and use to create a fabulous Fall scrapbook page.

Tips -

Try overlapping items and stacking them on, to create a colorful scan.

Think about other items that you wish you could add to your pages and try scanning them: Fabric from a favorite dress; outdoor items such as sticks, acorns, flowers; sports items such as a glove, soccer ball, football. Have an idea? Try it and see if it works!

Have you tried it?
