Reviews Her Recent Trip to Cropping Daze Scrapbook Retreat
I have been to several
scrapbook retreat weekends, there are some things they all have in common and
some things that make each one stand out from the rest. Cropping Daze in
Chesaning, Michigan definitely has a spot among the very best retreats. Their
attention to detail, amazing food, and bright, huge cropping space makes it the
perfect place to both spend a weekend away and get lots of scrapbooking done.

Location:
Chesaning, Michigan is in the center of the Great Lakes State. It is within
driving distance of several airports including: Detroit (1 ½ hours), Grand
Rapids (2 hours), Lansing (1 hour), Kalamazoo (2 ½ hours). The lovely house that
is Cropping Daze is with in walking distance of the downtown area of the village
of Chesaning, where you could visit specialty or antique stores (that is if you
can pull yourself away from the crop room).
Cropping Area:
The cropping area at Cropping Daze is one of the things that makes this retreat
stand out (the food is the other). The room is huge, bright, and cheerful. Each
person has their own 8 foot table, desk lamp, and executive, rolling office
chair. The room is stocked with idea books, the latest magazines, punches, die
cut machines and dies, templates, and other tools for everyones use. On corner
contains a fully stocked refrigerator containing beverages and ice cream snacks.
A table holds additional treats and snacks. Really, what more could any
scrapbooker ask for?
Food:
The fabulous hostesses at Cropping Daze provided us with delicious, home cooked
meals and snacks at every turn. The food was simply amazing. Each meal was fancy
enough to be a special treat, while still being familiar enough to be called
comfort food. One of my favorite dishes was the Italian Pasta Soup garnished
with a floating flower shaped crouton and freshly grated parmesan cheese (I
brought home the recipe for this one.) Honestly, I never made it to the ice
cream snacks in the freezer of the crop room because just when I would think I
might like a snack it was time for another home made treat or meal.
Accommodations:
I love that the cropping room at Cropping Daze is on the opposite side of
the house form the bedrooms. You can not hear anything from the cropping room
when you decide it is time to get a little sleep. Each bedroom has a theme to
its décor making each one cozy and welcoming. You can easily stay up all night
cropping, but if you want to rest the hostesses will have turned down your bed
and left a chocolate on your pillow for you in your bedroom.
What the Other Guests Said:
Andrea: As a 3rd time guest at Cropping Daze, I still cant get
over how wonderful it is. You can come here and work on your favorite hobby
and be pampered all the while. The hostesses Holly and Dawn are warm and
friendly and they treat you like a queen.
Debbie: My weekend at Cropping Daze was one of the most
incredible scrapbooking experiences Ive ever had. We were extremely
pampered by our hostesses serving gourmet meals worthy of a 4 star
restaurant, attending to our every need, providing us with our own 8 foot
table and all the scrapbooking tools we could ever imagine needing.
Diane: The meals and snacks are excellent! I felt like I was
eating out at a gourmet restaurant for every meal. There is also a feeling
of sisterhood on this retreat that no one can explain and when you leave you
have a feeling of completeness.
Lianne: It was the BEST retreat weekend I have been on.
