"Josh's First Day of School"

Shauna's Tip: Shauna chose the whimsical Annie Lang Big Cut-Outs™ for these photos of Jack’s first day of school. The look is bright, cheery and perfect for little boy pages! And rather than alpha beads, Shauna used paper strips to hold her journaled tags in place.

Supplies:

  • patterned Paper Pizazz™: blue gingham, blue stripes, yellow swirls, red mesh (12”x12” Bright Tints)
  • solid Paper Pizazz™: white (Plain Pastels)
  • Cut-Outs™: Annie Lang’s Big Cut-Outs
  • rectangle punch: Marvy® Uchida
  • sm. white tags: DMD Paper Reflections®
  • 1/8’ white eyelets: Stamp Studio
  • 5/8” blue gingham ribbon: Offray
  • pens: black Sakura of America Gelly Roll
  • Scotch® Brand foam mounting tape

Instructions:

  1. Mat photos on white. Mat one photo on blue gingham and the other on yellow swirls. Mat each one on white again.
  2. Cut yellow swirls to 5 3/4 x 12”, mat one side on white and trim to 1/16”. Layer over blue gingham paper and glue.
  3. Trim red mesh paper to 4 1/2 x 12” and mat both of the long sides on white. Trim to 1/16” and adhere over the bottom of the blue/yellow background.
  4. Attach photos to layout as shown.
  5. Cut out Annie Lange images. Place foam tape behind school house and adhere to layout as shown. Punch three white rectangles. Journal and pen work with black pen. Tie blue gingham on each.
  6. Cut three 1/4 x 2 1/2” strips of yellow swirls and blue stripes. Mat on white and trim to 1/16”. Center tags across the red mesh border. Lay the strips across the tags and punch four 1/8” holes on either side of the tags as shown. Adhere with white eyelets. Glue cut-outs over strips.
