A New Technique to Try and Share Your Results on the Forum |
This
technique was displayed on the cover the March 2002 issue of
Creating Keepsakes Magazine. It was
also demonstrated by Lisa Bearnson on
DIY Scrapbooking.

show.
How I Did It:
I started with two 5"x8.5" strips of patterned paper. (In this case, the papers are from Making Memories.)
I ran one sheet through my Xyron 500 and adhered it completely (wrong sides together) to the back of the other sheet. This gave me double sided patriotic paper.
I then cut the paper into 2 inch squares.
Next, I cut on the diagonal of each square in towards the center of the paper approximately 1".
Using a 1/16" hole punch I punched holes in the tips of each of four of the points formed from the cuts in the last step. Skipping one point and punching the next all the way around.
I folded the points with the holes on them to the center of the square and pushed a mini paper brad through all the holes and through the center of the square opening the prongs on the back to secure the pinwheel.
Tips:
To keep the pinwheel from being flattened in your albums you may want to put a small piece of double sided foam tape inside each section of the pin wheel.
Flip one of your paper squares over before you start to have an alternating pattern among your finished pinwheels.
Use a fine gauge wire to create embellishments to string your pinwheels together.
By using different colors and patterns of paper you can create completely different looks with the pinwheels.
Try using one pinwheel as a page corner accent or to decorate a Spring or Summer title.
Supplies Needed:
Double sided cardstock or two
papers glued back to back
Mini or regular size paper brads
24 or 26 gauge gold wire
Double sided foam tape
Background cardstock to mount as a border
