"Mother" |
Journaling Reads:
"Wow! It has been almost nine years of Motherhood. Nine years and five
children later I can honestly say I love this job. I almost can't believe it has
been so long. It seems like just yesterday that I brought Elizabeth home from
the hospital. I always imagined myself having a career after college, so it is
sometimes hard to see myself as a stay-at-home mom. But I love what I do, and I
think this is for me "the hardest job I will ever love." I am wife first, mom
second; but also housekeeper, nurse, teacher, chauffer, personal shopper,
artist, author, and historian.
One of the most challenging aspects of motherhood is the hours, 24 hours a day,
7 days a week. Sick days? What are those? You must be thinking of the days when
the kids are sick, when I am on duty all day and night. Vacation days? I am
amazed that often after I get home from "vacation" I am more tired than when we
leave.
The perks are the best. I often get to work the whole day in my pajamas. (Well
yes that is because I didn't have time to shower and change.) I do get kisses
and hugs all day long. (Well yes they are often wet and sticky.) I get variety.
(One thing about this job is it never boring.) I get to juggle. (Well it is
often more than one task at a time.) I am loved completely. When my daughters
are asked what they want to be when they grow up, they say they want to be like
mom (a mother, a teacher and an artist.) There couldn't be any higher praise.
