Instructions for Bathing Birdies

1. We recommend that you print out the pattern on cardstock. That makes it easier to trace around the pieces on the paper selected for the piecing.

2. Select the paper you want to use. Our sample was done on Provo Craft paper, and the grass was cut using Provo Craft Grass scissors. You may make the birdies, the background and the accessories with any paper you like to compliment your pictures. We think this would be really cute for Easter or any other spring pictures.

3. Cut out the pattern pieces, turn them over and trace onto the back of the selected paper. Tracing on the back with the pieces flipped eliminates pencil or pen marks on the right side after cutting.

4. Cut out the traced pieces and assemble the piecing.

5. You may use punchies or pens to embellish. For example, the birdies eyes may be done with a black pen or a very small circle punch. The flower, leaves and drops may be punched or cut.

In our sample, a black Zig Writer from EK Success was used to outline and to add the "stitching" on the sailor hat and the "straw" look to the other hat. A small white dot was added to each eye with a Pentel Milky Gel Roller to perk up the expressions of the birdies. Chalks could also be used if desired.
