Embellishments for Your Scrapbook Pages |
Shaker boxes in all shapes and sizes are turning up on scrapbook pages. This technique challenge shows you a simple way to add custom title shakers to your next layout.
Materials Used in sample pages above: Striped, polka dotted, and solid paper from the Paper Loft; craft foam from Fibre Craft, Gem Tac liquid glue from Beacon, and white paper raffia from Pulsar Paper; Sizzix machine and Lollipop Upper dies.
How To:
Step 1) Use a Sizzix
Personal Die Cut Machine (or a die cut machine available at your local scrapbook
store) to die cut tags from solid red and blue cardstock. Also cut a tag from
red craft foam and the two types of pattern paper shown in the sample.

Step 2) Decorate the solid blue cardstock tag with the striped and dotted paper as shown.
Step 3) Layer the decorated tag on top of the craft foam tag and cut through both of them at the same time using a Sizzix alphabet letter die.

Step 4) Glue craft foam tag to red base solid cardstock tag.
Step 5) Fill letter shaped opening in tag with beads.
Step 6) Glue a small piece of plastic page protector over the opening to seal in the beads.
Step 7) Glue the decorated blue tag on top to finish it off!
Step 8) Repeat steps for all the letters in your desired title.
Tip #1 - If you do not have a die cut machine you can create the same shaker by tracing a tag template and cutting out tags. Then, simply use a lettering template to trace the letters onto the appropriate layers. Cut out the traced letters with a sharp craft knife.
Tip #2 - By changing the colors used, this technique can work for a variety of scrapbook page themes. Remember to think about how much space the tags will take up across the page, when you plan out your title.
