| And the Fans Go Wild |
|
Chronicle your family’s team spirit. |
The diehard fans. They perch defiantly in the stands as raindrops cut tracks
through their face paint and swarms of less devoted ticket-holders climb over
them toward the exits. They proclaim their loyalties with bumper stickers,
posters and pennants, starter jackets and tattoos. Their devotion unites them
with their fellow fans just as it connects them to their team.
Pam Talluto’s family members—especially her son Marc and his uncle Wayne—are
united by their enthusiasm for the Detroit Lions. Pam created this album to
record and celebrate the many personal experiences that reinforce this bond
between family and football team (Figure 1).

of rooting for her family’s favorite team.
Album by Pam Talluto | Rochester Hills, MI
MATERIALS:
Textured football paper (Emaginations) + patterned papers (Karen Foster) + wire mesh (Pergola) + embossing powder (PSX Design) + fibers (On the Surface) + CK Newsprint font (Creating Keepsakes) and Stamp Act font (Internet) + eyelets, wire, metal letters, metal stars, metal frames and letter stamps (Making Memories) + beads (Magic Scraps) + letter beads (Darice) + date stamp (Hero Arts) + ribbon + (JoAnne Etc.) + buttons
Idea to note: Pam used clippings from a variety of Detroit Lions publications
and magazines to add a touch of authenticity to her layouts.
The album is unified by its basic color scheme of silver and blue (Lions colors,
of course!) and its casual, collage-like style. “By choosing the same colors and
themes throughout the book,” Pam says, “I left myself time to concentrate on
using new products and techniques I’d been wanting to try.” She turned to
Rebecca Sower’s book
Scrapbooking Life’s Little Treasures for inspiration and
gleaned such ideas as machine-stitching on her pages, arranging page elements in
a deliberately askew fashion and combining a variety of textures in each layout.
Pam established a simple structure for her album that will enable her to add new
layouts easily as her family attends more games and her son’s memorabilia
collection grows. She introduces the project with a dedication to Marc and Wayne
and their love for the Lions (Figure 2). Three sections follow: “Football
Games,” “People and Places,” and “Memorabilia.”

Figure 2. A dedication page emphasizes the strong
relationship at the core of the family’s love for the game.
“Football Games” (Part I) features reminiscences of memorable Lions games Pam’s family has attended. The time-honored ritual of the tailgate party merits its own special layout (Figure 3).

Figure 3. A portable barbecue, snacks and drinks equal pre-game excitement.
Pam arranged her family’s game tickets to create an exciting page accent.
