Just the Facts: Creative Solution

by Wendy Smedley
Excerpt from Simple Scrapbooks Magazine article Just the Facts - July/August 2003

End of Roll Shots

When you have a few frames left on your roll of film, take some unconventional shots or detail photos to use as accents on your scrapbook page.

Ideas for photos:

  • Household items

  • The view from your windows

  • Favorite book or CD covers

  • Details of your car

  • Objects related to photos on the roll

  • Your neighborhood: houses, people, landmarks, local library, grocery store

  • Favorite food

  • Collections or toys

  • Personal close-ups of feet, hands, eyes

  • Belongings: a shoe, hat, key ring, or pair of eyeglasses

  • Textures, shapes, colors

End-of-roll shots add a personal perspective to pages that often don’t include photos of the person who lovingly made them. Scrapbooker Barbara Carroll says: “In my scrapbooks, which are filled with photos of my children, there are glimpses of me.”
