Marching Band Scrapbook Page Idea Using Silhouette Patterns - Clarinet

Marching Band Scrapbook Page - Clarinet
Jennifer Schmidt

Silhouette are simply an outline of an image that is usually cut from solid color paper, frequently seen done in black. Each of the silhouettes in this article show the outline of a musical instrument. For her page, Jennifer Schmidt used the clarinet pattern to make a large (appromimately 8 inches) embellishment for her scrapbook page about her daughter's marching band. The silhouette takes some time to cut out, but your patience is rewarded with a beautifully detailed outline to decorate your scrapbook page.

Scrapbook Supplies Used on This Scrapbook Page Layout: Solid cardstock - unknown; die cut letters and designs - Sizzix; label - Dymo; mini brads - Hot Off the Press; clarinet silhouette - Jennifer's original design.

For the drum, you will want to do the outline as shown here in black but use a white circle of cardstock for the interior of the drum. You can use that white circle for your journaling space, for a title, for a date and name of the marching band show, or even for a photo mat. See the instructions for saving, printing, and resizing the pattern above under the clarinet pattern. If you need journaling ideas for your marching band pages, be sure to check out the Marching Band and Music Quotes page here on About.com Scrapbooking.

The trumpet pattern will take even more patience, however if you take the time to cut out all of the details you will have a really great scrapbook page embellishment. You may want to use a cutting mat and an Exacto knife for this pattern so that you have more control over cutting out the tiny opening in the design. Remember that you can see the full-size pattern in a new window by clicking on the small image shown here.

Trombone Pattern

This trombone pattern is actually based on the more "old-school" design of marching instrument. The modern day instrument has changed very little since its inception. To make this pattern look more like the trombone that your son or daughter played in band, simply inscrease the size of the bell portion of the horn as you cut it out. Remember that you can see the full-size pattern in a new window by clicking on the small image shown here. If you need journaling or title ideas for your marching band scrapbook page be sure to download the Free Marching Band Word Art from About.com Scrapbooking.

Many concert and marching bands are now including both lead and bass electric guitars. This guitar pattern could be adapted to be a bass guitar pattern by simply eliminating a couple of the tuning knobs on the design. Consult the bass guitar player in your family for advice on pattern modifications. Remember that you can see the full-size pattern in a new window by clicking on the small image shown here.

For special pieces, you may even see a violin solo in a marching band show. This pattern would be perfect for photographs from a night out at the symphony.
