The primary focus of your scrapbook pages is your photos. When you mat a photo, you draw more attention to that picture giving it more prominence on your scrapbook page. To add even more weight to a certain photograph, you can double or even triple mat it.

Getting Started: Matting a photo can be a simple process. To begin, select the color of cardstock that you wish to use. Adhere your photo in the upper corner of a sheet of that cardstock. Leave an equal amount of cardstock showing the two cardstock edges. You can choose how much you want to leave showing, a 1/8 - 1/4 inch is common.
