Word Art free digital downloads allow you to add a beautiful touch of typography to a traditional paper scrapbook page. This article shows you three creative ways to use free digital word art on your scrapbook pages. Of course you can also simply print the word art directly on to cardstock or patterned paper and add it to your scrapbook page layout as a title or journaling, but these three ideas give you additional ways to play with these free resources. All of the samples shown here use One Liners Word Art Free Digital Scrapbooking Download from Sherrie Piegdon. Click on the images to see them in greater detail.
1. Print the Word Art on to Vellum
Vellum is an especially good choice for printing free digital Word Art for scrapbooking. You can ink or chalk on it, attach it with brads, eyelets, or vellum tape, and use is anywhere on your scrapbook page layout. For the layout shown here, I chalked the back of the word remember to add a light touch of color to the vellum wording before I attached it to my scrapbook page layout using mini brads. Be sure to watch my how-to video about attaching mini-brads for great tips that make using these little fasteners quick and easy.
2. Add Word Art Directly to Your Photos
Free digital Word Art can be added directly to your digital photos before you print them or send them off to your favorite online printer. For this scrapbook page, I added the "Remember" One Liner to my photo, saved it, and then printed it on my photo printer. I opened my photo in my photo editor (Digital Image Pro, Photoshop Elements, Photoshop, or even Paint), and then clicked on "insert picture" and selected the Word Art image which I had already downloaded and saved to my computer. Since the Word Art images are transparent, the photo shows through adding the words on top. To make the words show up a little better, I clicked on the photo to select it and then changed the transparency of the photo a little bit to make it lighter leaving the Word Art lettering completely opaque. 3. Print Word Art on a Transparency
You can add Word Art to scrapbook pages and even over photos without having to edit the photo itself by printing the Word Art on a transparency. I purchased a box of transparencies that are compatible with my laser jet printer, added all of the One Liner Free Digital Word Art phrases to a Word document and printed an entire sheet of beautiful scrapbook page journaling pieces. Since the transparency is clear I can overlay each phrase on cardstock, photos, or patterned paper with ease.
