Mixing Patterned Papers Tip 3: Create a Buffer Between Patterns

Very similar to the monochromatic scheme, designer Laura Nicholas selected three different patterned papers from one color set to create this Niagara Falls layout. Each of the papers uses blue and green throughout. Though all of the colors coordinate, three strong geometric patterns together could be a bit busy. To keep the mix of patterns from being too overwhelming, Laura incorporated white mats or torn white edges between them. This helps the eyes flow down the page, from the top to the photos and journaling and right into those vertical stripes.
