Scrap Walls Photo Collage

Printed (then framed) ScrapWalls Photo Collage

Sherrie Piegdon

ScrapWalls.com is a website that lets you upload your digital photos and quickly turn them into photo collages that can be shared for free online or printed onto posters and cards for a fee.

Collage Tool

The collage creation tool on ScrapWalls.com is free to use, and has a simple, easy-to-use interface. The first step is to choose which size collage you’d like to make. The smallest option is 11 x 14. There is a handy guide that tells you how many photos each size is best suited for. The second step is to choose what shape you’d like for your collage.  You can choose (like I did) a standard rectangle, a custom design that allows you to arrange your photos completely on your own, or one of their many shape designs. After you choose the size and shape of your collage, you can optionally name your project, and then it’s on to uploading photos.

The uploader is easy to use and straightforward. You can also import photos from Facebook, but I’d be careful with this feature if you plan on printing your collage. If you’re importing photos that have been uploaded to Facebook at web resolutions, you may be unhappy with the printed results, so check the resolution of photos before pulling them from Facebook.

Once you have your photos uploaded or imported, you can set features such as background color, whether you’d like a border (plus the border color and size), a title (if desired), orientation and photo placement. You can let the collage tool shuffle the photos for you with a touch of a button, or you can drag the photos around for a custom placement.

When your collage is finished you can add it to your cart and complete your purchase or you can share it.

Sharing Tools

Clicking the Share button builds the collage for sharing and you have the option to click a “Like” button to share it on Facebook, or you can click a second Share button to get access to a link to paste into an email or instant message. The share tool also creates a code snipped if you’d like to embed your collage into a web page. Sharing your photo collage is free of charge and a nice addition to this service.

Shipping & Print Quality

I ordered my collage in an 11 x 14 poster. Shipping was reasonable for the speed. I chose standard 3-5 day shipping. My print arrived within the time estimated via USPS in a rigid cardboard tube that was well sealed.

The poster is printed on a matte-finish Fujicolor Crystal Archive Paper and the quality of the print is very good. The photos are clear and crisp and the colors are true to expectation. I’ve had several of the photos that I used in the collage printed in the past, and this is the best print I’ve received of those particular photos.

Overall Impression

While ScrapWalls.com does not specifically offer printing digital scrapbooking layouts, their service is a high-quality, easy way to take collections of photos and turn them into wall art. Based on the quality of the print I received, I’d love to see them offer a digital scrapbook page print service.

I have a couple minor nits with the collage tool such as wishing I could crop photos when arranging them in the collage as opposed to just being able to resize them, and wanting the option to have a hard edge on some of the shapes as opposed to the default feathered edge, but these are very small complaints. ScrapWalls.com delivered on the two most important aspects of their service. I was able to create a very attractive photo collage in minutes and the print I received was of very good quality.

Horrible service, Member sestar

I ordered a collage online as a gift. I was told I would receive it by a certain date which is all I had to go on because there was no tracking number since it was less than one pound. Well I am still waiting for it days later and have contacted their awful customer service which consists of leaving a voicemail. I have left several messages and emails and no one has responded to me yet! I am so dissapointed in how this turned out and how this company treats paying customers. Obviously they need to understand what that means. I will never use this company again and urge anyone else to avoid this company at all costs unless they step up their standards.
