Once again scrapbook manufacturers from around the globe have converged at the Craft and Hobby Association Trade Show to display their upcoming wares. As you make your way through the offerings you find certain trends begin to emerge. At last summer's CHA, I noticed that hexagons were still the most popular shape and orange and gray continued to be the trendy colors. You can read all about the Fall 2013 Scrapbook Trends in the article about CHA Summer 2012. For 2013, the trend that really stood out was quick and simple scrapbooking. Inspired by Becky Higgins' very popular Project Lift, manufacturer's want to help you get your scrapbooking done in minutes with a variety of collections designed around divided page protectors.
We R Memory Keepers has been in the business of making scrapbooks for over 90 years. The Albums Made Easy system isn't new for them, but they have been adding to it and continuing to update it as the trend of quick and simple scrapbooking is once again reaching a crescendo. The system starts with a line of high quality, D-ring, 3-ring album, which are available in five different sizes. Then, you can choose a variety of styles of divided page protectors. These protectors allow you to add photos and journaling/title cards all on one page. The system has sets of 275 coordinated, double-sided cards which have different designs, quotes, and journaling prompts. You can find a video tutorial of the system on the We R Memory Keepers web site.
To add to the Albums Made Easy system, this spring, We R Memory Keepers will debut a new 3x4 inch punch. You can quickly and easily turn any photo, patterned paper, or cardstock into a rounded corner card that fits perfectly in the system's page protectors. The punch is conveniently designed to be used in such a way that you can see exactly where you are punching, making it ideal for quick photo cropping.
Becky Higgins has encouraged thousand and thousands of people to get started scrapbooking. Over the last few years she has encouraged us to take more everyday photos and turn them into creative but quick and simple scrapbooks. Project Life started as an idea, became a product line, and now is partnered with American Crafts to be brought to a craft store near you in spring 2013. Project life also includes albums, divided page protectors, coordinated card sets, and more.
Joining the trend this spring is October Afternoon. With their new Daily Flash Collection they also have divided page protectors, journaling cards, alpha stickers, stamps, and more. The classic style of October Afternoon artists make this collection unique with a fun, kitschy style.
Simple Stories celebrated their two year anniversary at this winter's CHA trade show. They have realized their dream of having a full product line to enable scrapbookers to create quick, simple, and stylish scrapbooks. Again, this line uses a divided page protector system. It starts with a selection of faux leather albums available in two sizes. The bright, fun colors of the albums, papers, cards, and more will work with any theme.
Quick Quotes is well-known for their line of quotes and poems, and more recently for Powder Puff Chalk inks. They have brand new tabbed albums coming out this spring that have space for two photos and a journaling tab on each page. The line includes pre-printed quotes and designs to use to fill-up your albums.
