Quick Quotes Private Reserve

Quick Quotes
Private Reserve is a scrapbook educational weekend put together and run by the Quick Quotes team. The weekend is packed full of classes, projects, and scrapbook techniques. I had an opportunity to attend the first of the 2010 events in Novi, Michigan and was blown away by the sheer amount of product in every class as well as the friendliness of the entire team. Michelle, the lead teacher of the event weekend, is energetic and fun and keeps the classes moving along at a quick pace allowing a lot of projects to be completed. To see some of my projects visit Rebecca's Favorites from Quick Quotes Private Reserve.

What Is Quick Quotes Private Reserve?

Private Reserve is an intense, class-filled, weekend of scrapbooking. If you are looking for a scrapbook spa, this isn’t it. But if you are looking for tons of techniques, loads of layouts, and a plethora of prizes, then Private Reserve is for you. Come well rested and be prepared to have a lot of fun while working really hard and getting a lot accomplished.

The weekend begins on Friday, when participants may arrive in the morning to take three bonus classes at an additional cost. For those who choose not to take those classes, the weekend begins late afternoon on Friday, when you can check-in and participate in creative make and takes before the 7 p.m. crop night gets started.

Saturday is filled with six classes and a fabulous lunch. The day is topped off with another crop night. Each of the two crop night includes free gifts, make and takes (which charge a nominal fee all of which goes to a local charity), and hours of uninterrupted time to create.

All day Sunday, you work on completing a full, 20-page, 12x12 scrapbook album. The pages are led by Michelle just like the classes the day before and you move quickly to complete the entire album of layouts in one day. The final event is a farewell prize drawing where huge baskets of prizes are given away to many lucky scrapbookers.

What I Completed and What to Bring

Crop Night Make and Takes

In just over two full days, I created 32 scrapbook pages, two mini books, a 3-photo display, and a scrapbooked canvas clock. Be sure to visit my Quick Quotes Private Reserve gallery to see some of my favorite projects and scrapbook pages. There were two additional classes earlier in the day on Friday that I was unable to attend, however the ladies who were there can add an 18x18” gorgeous canvas project and 6 more scrapbook pages to their grand tally for the weekend.

Quick Quotes provides a list for each participant of some basic supplies (trimmer, scissors, etc.) plus some optional items such as fabric and old book pages for flower techniques this year. You are also provided with a description of all of the classes which includes theme and photo sizes so that you can print photos for each class ahead of time if you desire to do so. Finally, you may want to bring supplies to crop on Friday and Saturday night.

Rebecca's Tips for a Fabulous Private Reserve Weekend

Here are a few of my suggestions as you prepare to attend a Quick Quotes Private Reserve weekend:
  1. Pack light and bring an extra suitcase. You will be taking home a lot of scrapbook product and you will most likely be too tired in the evenings to want to tackle page after page of scrapbooking at the crops. So bring a few page kits to work on at the crops and all of the supplies on the “What to Bring” list that Quick Quotes sends to you and leave most of your additional scrapbook supplies at home.
  2. Don’t worry about coming alone. Several ladies who came to the weekend that I attended had come alone. Feel free to come and make new friends. I met Sherry and we scrapbooked together all weekend and had a great time.
  3. Get to each class early. Everyone arrives to each class at least 15 minutes early to begin punching out pieces, inking edges, and getting organized so that they a little ahead of the game when the class begins.
  4. At the Friday and Saturday night crops, you might want to consider getting ready for your Sunday album class. You are given the class kit when you check-in on Friday. You could use some of that time to punch out die-cuts and chipboard pieces, stamp on the chipboard, and ink the edges. This will make Sunday go much more smoothly.
