Use a simple back stitch (coming up through the second hole, and going down through the first hole, coming up through the third hole going back down through the second, etc.) to stitch along the lines. Some acid-free tape on the back of the page is the perfect way to "tie off" the string without creating a bumpy knot. All six strands of the cross stitch floss were used for the stitching on the example shown here.
