How I Organize My Scrapbook Paper
I store both vertically and horizontally. I purchased my rolling cart folders at the time I purchased the cart. I store most of my loose paper in the cart. I store my books of papers horizontally on a tall, ancient wooden storage unit with divided shelves that I purchased at a garage sale. It's perfect. Also on this unit I store specific paper and embellishments in plastic containers marked "Cats" "Birthdays" "Travel", etc., so they can easily be found.
How I Did It:
I also utilize a plastic drawered unit for scraps (bagged by colors), cutting templates, alcohol inks & accessories, loose trims & ribbons and letter stamps. Each drawer is marked accordingly. I also utilize the closet in my scrap room for a lot of storage of card kits, adhesive runners (I buy it by the box) various chipboard letters, rub-ons in their own box, also boxed borders, a drawer of misc. letters and labels & tags (all marked accordingly.) I also have a large bookcase holding albums (completed and on-going), how-to books, CDs and scrapbook magazines. I'm very fortunate to have an entire room to utilize for this craft.
Lessons Learned
- I make a huge mess when I scrapbook, with paper and accessories (some used, some rejected) all over the place. But because I have a place for everything, it all cleans up very easily. I love that! In fact, I enjoy organizing my "stash" almost as much as I love using it. Like most of you, I have way too much paper, but I keep buying more - it's just beautiful to look at. And, of course, I plan to use every piece - some day. Oh, I also use plastic shoe bags to hold scissors, markers, adhesive dots, etc. (all those little things that can easily get lost that we use all the time)and hang it over my scrapbook table.
